3468 Main Hwy, Coconut Grove
305-444-0244
Hours: daily, 5-7 p.m. and 11 p.m.-close.
Deals: Daily specials along with $3.50 beers, $2 wine glasses, $4.50 well drinks and $6 martinis.
Scene: Most people in the Grove might be surprised to find out that there is even an inside to the GreenStreet Café. It's nice enough, but, really, you're missing half the fun if you're not on a plush velvet couch along Main Highway or under umbrellas alongside Commodore Plaza in plain sight of slow moving rubberneckers.
GreenStreet manages to mix regulars, with locals of note (celebs, athlete and politicos) and even tourists in equal measure. The menu is similarly eclectic and draws crowds for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The happy hour offerings, regular and late night, are plentiful with daily specials like two for one Mojito specials on Tuesday and complimentary champagne for ladies from 5-7 p.m. on Fridays in addition to the standard happy hour deals. Conclusion: The restaurant and nightclub scene in Coconut Grove if fluid to say the least. What's here today might be gone tomorrow. With the notable exception of GreenStreet Café. Coming up on its 20th anniversary, GreenStreet has outlasted almost every other dining/drinking venue in the Grove. Its secret? It's partially a combination of a European aesthetic with an outdoor Miami lounge atmosphere. But mostly, just make sure everybody, including passersby, can gawk at one another out in the open.
