Art Basel is just starting and Short Order is making plans for the closing night's festivities. We suggest you do the same, especially when it entails a pop-up lounge and four different cocktails -- and everything's free.
First Trust is a new cocktail lounge scheduled to open in downtown Miami in fall 2013. That may seem like an eternity away, but it's never too soon to indulge in a taste of things to come, so they're popping up at rooftop garden of The Moore Building on Sunday, December 9, from 5 to 8 p.m. to close down Art Basel with some drinks and music.
The cocktails are crafted by Steve Livigni and Pablo Moix, mixologists behind Los Angeles bars La Descarga and Harvard & Stone, which were nominated for 2012 Best American Cocktail Bar by Tales of the Cocktail, and Pour Vous, one of CNN's 2012 Top 10 Best New Bars in America.
Cocktails on offer at the First Trust pop-up are:
Pan American Colada
Leblon Cachaca, Plantation over proof rum, liquid nitrogen, fresh coconut, freshly squeezed pineapple, coconut milk, Kalamansi pulp, freshly squeezed lime and toasted coconut
Singapore Sling
Gin
freshly squeezed pineapple juice, freshly squeezed lemon, angostura bitters, club soda, topped with Cherry Heering & Benedictine
The Bridgetown
Grande Reserve Barbados 5 year rum, freshly squeezed lemon juice, house made orgeat and angostura bitters
Saint Kitts Cocktail
Pierre Ferrand 1840 Cognac, Ancient methods 19th century style dry curaçao, pastis, peychaudes and angostura bitters
There's not a lot of information on First Trust Miami yet, except that the two-story venue will include a sit-down cocktail lounge and an upstairs area for live musical performances and DJ sets.
