It's that time of the year where celebrate the big O, Miami.
No, not that "Big O" -- O, Miami, the Miami-Dade literary event produced by the University of Wynwood, that celebrates poetry with parties, salons, and exhibits.
And, since most of history's great poets were also great drinkers, BLT Steak Bar at the Betsy Hotel has created a special cocktail using, of course, absinthe.
Absinthe, also called the "green fairy", has long been revered throughout literary circles -- possibly for its rumored hallucinogenic qualities.
The Mot Juste is $15 and will be available throughout the month of April.
In addition, every day at 5 p.m., the Betsy will host a poet who will read one of their original works and another poem that has inspired them. Poetry readings will be held on the Betsy terrace.
If you want some inspiration at home, here's the recipe:
Mot Juste
1/4 oz. Russels Reserve rye
3/4 oz. Artemisia absinthe
1/4 oz. yellow chartreuse
1/2 oz. simple syrup
Mix ingredients in shaker, add ice and shake with conviction. Strain into old fashioned glass over new ice and garnish with twist of orange peel.
