Brew at the Zoo 2015 Eats: Shake Shack and Beer-Friendly KIND Bars

The sixth-annual New Times Brew at the Zoo (BATZ) will take over Zoo Miami Saturday, May 9, from 8 to 11 p.m., and things keep getting bigger and better. In addition to the chance to sample more than 100 imported, domestic, and local craft beers, there'll be great live music by Locos por Juana and U2 by UV. 

This year, along with the usual yummy food at BATZ, there are some special treats lined up.

For the first time, Shake Shack will be onsite, selling its famous Shack burgers ($7), crinkle fries ($4), lemonade ($4), and Shack 2.0 water ($4). That means in addition to tasting a plethora of beers, you'll be able to enjoy the Shack's famous 100 percent humanely raised, hormone-and-antibiotic-free blend of freshly ground sirloin and brisket, topped with American cheese, fresh green lettuce, juicy red tomatoes, and Shack sauce — all on a potato bun. Nirvana, right?
KIND Healthy Snacks will also be at BATZ to debut a new line of savory snacks called Strong & KIND. These bars come in flavors like Honey Smoked BBQ, Roasted Jalapeño, and Sweet Thai Chili, and the combination of nuts and spices goes especially well with beer. Coincidence? We don't think so.

KIND will offer bite-size samples of all five flavors of its new treats, so you can do your own bar-and-beer pairings. Figure out the flavor you like best and find one of KIND's brand ambassadors, who will gift you with a full-size bar (or maybe two if you ask nicely). 

And you'll completely flip over the beer selection (which is why you're really going to Brew at the Zoo). Advance-purchase general-admission tickets to Brew at the Zoo cost only $40 and include unlimited local and international beer samplings from 100-plus breweries and homebrews and craft beers. There's also a special BATZ Pack — four GA tickets for only $100.  

Brewmaster tickets, which cost $70 each, are nearly sold out. You get early entrance to the event at 7 p.m., along with a special commemorative pilsner glass and a bag available only to Brewmaster ticketholders. You'll also have access to exclusive beer tappings available to Brewmaster and VIP ticketholders.

VIP tickets cost $80 and include early entry to Brew at the Zoo at 7 p.m., animal encounters, complimentary food, full-size beers, and special spirits samplings.
