The news was met with surprise by fans of the popular craft beer joint, which has been around since 2009.
The announcement on the Cervezas page read as follows: "Due to unfortunate & unforeseeable events our time w/ u has come to an end & w/ every end there is a new beginning! Its been amazing & we appreciate each & every one of you! With so much love & many memories, the Cervezas Crew ♥ Jessie, Scott & Carlos ♥"
Meanwhile, Bougainvillea's posted: "We are proud to announce that Bougie'S has added Cervezas South Miami to our family. This is a very exciting time for us and we are looking forward to sharing it with you. Cervezas will be closed today, but please stay tuned for more info. Cervezas will continue to offer South Miami's best beer selection and we can't wait to pour YOU a cold one!"
Despite some negative comments, the Bougies crew worked to keep spirits high, and promised that Cervezas would retain its current charms.
Will Ambros: "Seriously, on behalf of all that went there and the few of us that worked there, don't fuck it up. It's in your best interest to keep it all going on as it was. We all worked damn hard over the past few years on that place. Don't fuck it up."
Bougainvillea's Old Florida Tavern: "Bougie's acquired Cervezas because we LOVE what it is. We want to continue focusing on the things that we and the current patrons love about it."
Stay tuned for updates on the acquisition.
