It makes perfect sense. Maybe that's why it was two years in the planning, but BLT Prime has opened at the Trump National Doral. The restaurant, designed by Peter Niemitz, along with Eric Trump, replaces the former Mesazul and features scrolled ceilings, a circular bar, and Corinthian columns in a show of Trump opulence.

The golf resort's new signature restaurant, with views of the Blue Monster, is now serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a heavy focus, as expected on beef.

BLT Prime is part of the BLT Family, with a sister restaurant, BLT Steak at the Betsy Hotel in South Beach and as such, offers some of BLT's classic items like tuna tartare, chopped vegetable salad, and peanut butter chocolate mousse, with other items like a lobster roll and grilled chicken paillard, unique to this location.

Chef de cuisine Dustin Ward and head chef Paul Niedermann, who won season nine of the Gordon Ramsay screamfest, Hells' Kitchen, oversee the menu which features USDA Prime Certified Angus beef in all cuts and sizes starting with a modest 10-oz. hangar steak ($29) to a massive 20-oz., 28 day-aged Kansas City bone-in strip ($57), and a Porterhouse (for two) at $48 per person.

Of course, all steak houses worth their salt also offer a range of seafood options and BLT Prime features a Dover sole ($48); two-pound Maine lobster ($55); and branzino ($30), among the choices. In addition, the restaurant will feature locally sourced produce and seafood dishes featured as weekly blackboard specials.

Lunch is a more affordable option (and gives you a lovely view of the golf course). A Prime steak and fontina sandwich give you slices of quality beef for $24, and a Black Angus short rib burger is a juicy meal ($18).

BLT Prime is open daily for breakfast from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.; lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; a limited afternoon menu from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.; and dinner from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. daily. Valet parking is available at a discounted price of $5.00 for all restaurant patrons.
