Everyone wants beautiful skin. But instead of piling on the drugstore chemicals or heading to the Botox doc, lots of experts suggest there are healthier, more natural ways to glow..

The Beauty Foods Luncheon on November 21 at The Palms will pair a scrumptious menu by chef Julie Frans with need-to-know skincare info by natural beauty expert and Ayurvedic practitioner Brigitte Abella. So you can learn what to put in and on our bod to look your best.

"This is a collaboration between Julie Frans' talented cuisine and Brigitte Abella's fascinating work and her knowledge in regards to beauty from inside out," says event host Veronica Menin, co-founder of Conscious Bite Out. "What we put into our bodies, which comes down to foods, has a huge impact in our skin, hair, nails, and overall aspects which can be labeled as 'beauty.' Brigitte shared with Julie her list of ingredients and how they should be paired for best results and Julie created the menu."

The Beauty Foods menu is as follows:

  • Wakame seaweed salad: cucumber, avocado, fresh coconut, almonds, black sesame, miso, and tahini dressing
  • Kale salad: pomegranate, goji berry, blueberry, fennel, culinary argan oil-hibiscus vinaigrette
  • Veggie "noodle" bowl: zucchini pasta, coconut-turmeric-miso broth, sweet potatoes, mixed Asian greens, fresh herbs
  • Saffron and rose water yogurt mousse
  • Raw cacao truffles: seeds, dates, nuts, cacao
  • Served with choice of white tea or lemon water

In addition to eating, attendees will be given a rundown of natural skincare products and the best foods to feed our largest organ, all by Abella, the founder of Metiista, a holistic beauty and wellness company.

"Our skin is our biggest organ and whatever we put on it gets absorbed and eventually makes it into our system. If you can not eat it you should not be putting it on your skin," says Menin. "My personal opinion as of why there is so much breast cancer in women today, with all the cosmetics and products we use to 'stay beautiful' and instead end up making our bodies toxic and sick."

The workshop will also demonstrate how guests can make lots of products on their own -- because there's nothing better than DIY.

Menin adds: "Most of us take what we put into our skin for granted, and in the end it is just as important as food."

The lunch kicks off at the Palms on Friday, November 21, from 12:45 to 3:30 p.m. Tickets run $75 per person, which includes lunch, workshop, tax, and gratuity. The event is RSVP only, and tickets can be purchased at consciousbiteout.com.
