The Place: Blue Martini
900 South Miami Road, Miami
305-981-2583

The Hours: Daily 4 to 8 p.m.

The Deals: 2-for-1 on cocktails, beer and liquor (with few exceptions). All food is half off.

The Scene: Like its signature drink, the Blue Martini's happy hour is saturated with neon, a bit too sweet, and oversize, so enjoyment is more of a prerequisite than an actual choice. The place squeezes all the elements of a rockin' happy hour -namely good food and drink deals and loud music-- into every night of the week much like its bartenders squeeze into their tight-ass bustiers.

Happy hour can get crowded but there are three different seating areas; the stage room, the outdoor bar and the VIP room to pick from. The after-work specials are a great lead in to the live music six nights a week. Perched on the second floor of Mary Brickell Village, it's also the number one people watching spot in the Brickell area.

Conclusion: Who said cookie-cutter was a bad thing? It's almost as if the owners of the 11 Blue Martini lounges throughout Florida, took what patrons enjoyed most about happy hour and serialized it. What it lacks in soul, it makes up for in superficial bliss. That's Miami after all.
