Overachiever Anthony Bourdain has a lot planned for fall. The television host/book producer/chef is looking forward to two of his television projects premiering their second seasons.
Parts Unknown on CNN is gearing up for a second season of travel, food, and political chow chow.
The first season of the series saw the chef and author hopping the globe from Myanmar to Los Angeles.
Parts Unknown came in like a lion with strong ratings, but finished with a meek 460,000 total viewers for its finale in which Bourdain traveled down the Congo River, according to Deadline.com. Regardless of ratings, Parts Unknown was nominated for four Primetime Emmys. The CNN show is produced by Zero Point Zero Productions, which is also the team behind Bourdain's award-winning No Reservations.
The second season premieres Sunday, September 15, at 9 p.m., with a one-hour recap of season one airing just prior at 8 p.m. Bourdain is starting his world tour in Jerusalem, where he hooks up with the usual local chefs, and food writers while exploring the ancient city, the West Bank, and Gaza. In future weeks, Bourdain will visit Spain; New Mexico; Copenhagen; Sicily; Detroit; Tokyo; and South Africa.
Also returning is The Mind of a Chef, the PBS series that takes a look into the thought process of a chef. This year, Sean Brock and April Bloomfield are the chef brains being dissected, so be prepared for lots of pig parts and an awesome "hangover hanky" Anthony Bourdain is executive producer of the show and narrates the episodes.
