56. Egg Salad BLT at The Daily Creative Food Co.

When Adam Meltzer opened The Daily Creative Food Co. in 2005, the surrounding area on NE 20th Street and Biscayne was not what it is today."There were vacant buildings and just a bunch of empty construction sites," Meltzer said. "It just was not pedestrian friendly, especially at night."

The Daily and other similar gourmet restaurants helped revitalize the area, spurring economic growth and a sense of safety and security. Their Egg Salad BLT ($8.25) had a lot to do with it. Served on buttered toast that is the perfect blend of soft and crispy, a heaping stack of their specialty egg salad sits under a layer of bacon topped with tomatoes, lettuce and a thin layer of mayonnaise.

"The protocol here is simple -- very large portions of very good quality ingredients," Meltzer said. "Most people take the other half home for an afternoon snack."

Granted, we may be a little partial to the newspaper theme,

but The Daily proves to withstand even the toughest critics. With a

solid crowd all day long peaking around lunch time, success has opened

the possibility of expansion near the University of Miami campus in

2013.
