25. Peanut Butter Snickers Pie at Prime One Twelve
Prime One Twelve may be known for its steaks, but its about time one of their desserts gets the attention it deserves. The peanut butter Snickers pie ($6.95) features creamy filling with layered Snickers atop an Oreo cookie crust. Head pastry chef Robert Gonzalez touts the selection as among his favorite, despite a very deserving set of desserts on the menu.
Thankfully, Gonzalez shared with us his no-longer-secret method for preparing the dish (e-mail us for the full recipe). To prepare the pie, which feeds eight, he grounds four cups of Oreos for the crust and eight Snickers for the filling. The crust is put down in the pan and baked before adding the filling, which features three separate layers of ganache, peanut butter mouse and Snickers that combine peanut butter, heavy cream and chocolate.
One bite and you get a sudden rush of creamy texture followed by a perfect blend of caramel, peanut butter and chocolate taste in the back of your throat. The extreme creaminess can sometimes be overbearing, so a few bites may be all you need. One slice is so filling, many choose to share it.
