Both of our beloved South Florida football teams desperately need a win this weekend. One to get momentum back on track, the other to try and start some. Will Land Shark be the host of two upset victories, or the site of thousands of disappointingly hung heads? Let's make sense of it in our nonsensical previews.
Oklahoma Sooners @ Miami Hurricanes, 8 p.m. on ABC
Before last week the Hurricanes were surprisingly gliding through ranked opponents like a greasy hot dog down a roomy hallway hoping to hit the Orange Bowl. That was until Virginia Tech, um, hot dog blocked last week, leaving the Canes looking pretty pathetic. Now we take on the Oklahoma Sooners at home. Bradford is still out, and Landry Jones hasn't played quarterback against a ranked opponent in their home stadium before. Meanwhile Canes QB has proven himself well in games we were supposed to lose. And that's the situation this week, as the Sooners roll in as 7-point favorite. Hopefully, that hot dog will start sailing to victory again.
Buffalo Bills @ Miami Dolphins, 4:05 p.m. on CBS
Pennington is out for the season, Henne is a giant question mark, and Joey Porter will likely sit out Sunday. Not a good situation for a team that's already 0-3, and heading into their first divisional game. The Bills meanwhile aren't looking that great either, even with their new T.O. action, but they have pulled out a win and they are slight favorites amongst the odds-makers. If the Fins lose though, expect a rocky rest of the season, and even with free facials, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw more than a few blackouts.
