Behold above. This is Dolphins Nation.

It is not very big. In the map, the shaded counties are places where the Dolphins are amongst the top three teams -- but in most of those spots out of South Florida, that share is very small.

That's according to Twitter anyway. The site used its data to find the most followed NFL team in each county in America.

The Fins maps looks a bit better when each county's favorite team is clearly demarked. The Fins have a relatively larger share of Florida than both the Tampa Bay Bucs and Jacksonville Jaguars.

You might remember that Facebook did a similar map based on Likes earlier this year, and the county-by-county breakdown in Florida is remarkably similar.

Facebook says the Dolphins are the favorite teams in Madison, Suanee, and Franklin counties. Twitter says they are not. Conversely, Twitter says the Dolphins are the favorite team in Jackson, and Flagler counties, while Facebook says they are not. Otherwise it's the same with both data sets.

An odder but not surprising story is that Miami-Dade's second-favorite team is the Jets, with 5.02 percent of all local Twitter users who follow an NFL team backing the Jets. The Patriots come in third with 4.88. The fact the second and third most popular teams in the county are divisional rivals does appear to be unique amongst NFL teams.

46.21 percent of Miamians who follow a team follow the Dolphins. That number drops to 35.11 percent in Broward, and just 24.84 percent in Palm Beach. We know a few Browardites who claim that the Dolphins are more popular in their county than in Miami-Dade and that they're actually better fans. Turns out Twitter says that's not true.
