Getting scantily clad women to play basketball while wearing stripper heels is either a shrewd business move in the face of the NBA lockout or a recipe for some very disastrous ankle injuries.
Regardless, the girls of Tootsie's Cabaret in Miami Gardens are going to give it a shot as part of the newly formed Rick's Cabaret Basketball League.
Tootsie's is a part of stripper/adult entertainment conglomerate Rick's Cabaret Inc., and the company has decided to take the lack of pro basketball (and possibly the success of the Lingerie Football League) as a chance to form the world's first professional stripper basketball league.
"We have all been disappointed that the NBA season hasn't gotten underway yet, and a number of players who stop by the club have told us that they'd pay to see us play in our stripper heels, so we decided to form our own league," Gianna (no last name, natch), a dancer at Tootsie's NYC sister club, says in a press release.
Apparently, though, the New York girls will be getting a special advantage. The team will have an as-yet-unnamed former NBA star as their coach. His identity will be unveiled next week, hopefully at a ceremony involving his mother.
Surely there has to be a hard-up former NBA player floating around South Florida willing to give the Tootsie's girl a hand?
The Tootsie's girls better get it together fast. They're scheduled to play the second ever RBL game ever against the New York girls.
That game will go down in New York. We're not sure whether we'll ever see stripper basketball in Miami, but the league will announce a full schedule in January.
