Gail Posner, one of the four children of the infamous late businessman Victor Posner, passed away last week at the age of 67. She was reportedly battling cancer. However, for a member of one of Miami Beach's most wealthy and notorious families, her obituary was never submitted to the Herald.
Though bold-faced names such as developer and nightlife kingpin Michael Capponi, the Forge owner Shareef Malnik, and interior designer Wallace Tutt were in attendance at her funeral services in Doral this past Monday, a source says many people who wished to attend were not notified. Our source also says there was a noticeable rift between the Posner family and many of those people, including doctors, bankers, and builders with whom Ms. Posner surrounded herself later in life.
Ms. Posner was the daughter of Victor Posner, a billionaire businessman who pioneered the leveraged buyout. He made headlines when he was sued by his children, claiming his finances and will had been mismanaged. Mr. Posner's 1996 will named Gail as the chief beneficiary, but a disputed 2001 will diverted much of the inheritance to Brenda Nestor Castellano, a business associate and former girlfriend.
In recent years, Ms. Posner had given interviews about her beloved pet Chihuahua, Conchita, which had been dubbed "the most pampered dog in the world."
Ms. Posner is survived by a son, Brett Carr, and the family of her twin brother, Steven.
