Students at the University of Miami were taking their final exams for the Summer A term today when a shooting disrupted the campus. Not much is known, but apparently a disgruntled girlfriend shot her boyfriend in a School of Communications building.
The incident happened at about 11:55 this morning in the Wolfson Building near the north end of the Coral Gables campus. Local 10 reports that the incident involved an ex-girlfriend and boyfriend. Witnesses told the station that a woman was put into handcuffs and taken away.
Another witness tells the Miami Herald that the woman entered an equipment room on the ground floor of the building where the shooting took place. The victim was taken out on a stretcher. However, other reports indicate that no one was seriously injured.
The building was locked down while police cleared the scene, but the rest of the campus was not put on lockdown.
The suspects name has not been released.
