Poor Zachariah Dalton Howard. After failing miserably at trying to rob a convenience store, the dejected would-be robber sulked over to another store. Not to rob it, but to call his mom so she could pick him up.
According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, Howard, 22, walked into the Thumbs-Up convenience store in Niceville, Florida, December 22 around 10 p.m. He was clad in a black coat, hoodie, and jeans.
He told the clerk he had a gun and asked for money. The clerk replied by showing him that his cash register drawer was empty. So Dalton just kind of accepted the story and left. Dude didn't even make off with a bag of chips or anything.
Dalton than walked to a nearby Winn-Dixie and called his mom for a ride home.
Police later identified Dalton as the culprit. He admitted he didn't really have a gun on him and hadn't originally intended to try to rob the store.
He had just gone for a walk to "blow off steam" and decided that armed robbery sounded like a fun idea at the time.
