So remember when Mitt Romney showed up at the University of Miami looking a little brown around the face? A make-up artist ended up taking the blame, saying that he used a bit of MAC foundation that was too dark on the candidate.
Well, sources who spoke to BuzzFeed says there's an alternate explanation: Romney loves to get spray tanned.
A knowledgeable source tells BuzzFeed the answer is in a bit of cosmetic technology used commonly by celebrities: spray tanning. The Republican nominee has made a habit of spray tanning before major speeches, debates, interviews, and other events that have a chance of getting wide TV coverage, the source said. He pays for the process out of pocket -- sparing his campaign the expense, and the task of masking it on public campaign finance reports -- and steers clear of public salons where he could be recognized. Instead, he gets misted down in the comfort of his own home or hotel suite.BuzzFeed also talked to a spray tan expert, who says that the fact Romney's ears appeared lighter than his face was a dead give away, because spray tan recipients often put on shower caps that cover their ears.
The Romney campaign flatly denied that the candidate spray tans: "Not true," spokeswoman Andrea Saul said in response to an inquiry.
I mean, it does make a certain amount of sense. Dude can't exactly take a few hours every weekend to strip down on the beach, and a bit of color helps him look useful.
And considering he hates taxes, it's no surprise that he's not using tanning beds now that Obama is taxing them. So, apparently he's taken the Snooki route.
