It's that time of year when college students across the country take a break from their busy schedules of binge-drinking in hoodies and sweatpants in dorms and frat houses to change it up and binge-drink in bikinis on beaches. Yes, it's spring break. As always, South Florida attracts its fair share of breakers, but ratings from Avvo.com claim Miami is the 10th most dangerous spring break destination. Which, oddly, actually makes it safer than a week at Disney World.
Avvo used statistics such as violent crime risk/rank, murder risk/rank, rape risk/rank, and fatal car crashes. But because the site's main focus is providing ratings of doctors and lawyers, it also included "doctors and lawyers per capita, doctor rank, and criminal defense questions." We're not sure what any of that has to do with spring break or how that might have reflected in the rankings.
Anyway, here's the top 10:
1. Orlando, FLFlorida cities dominate the list, likely because the state offers many popular spring break locations. Fort Myers (#11), Fort Lauderdale (#13), Key West (#15), and Naples (#18) made the top 25.
2. Daytona Beach, FL
3. Las Vegas, NV
4. Myrtle Beach, SC
5. West Palm Beach, FL
6. South Padre Island, TX
7. New Orleans, LA
8. Panama City, FL
9. Jacksonville, FL
10. Miami, FL
