Ever experience that dreadful feeling of rifling through your purse or patting down your pockets only to realize that you're cell phone wasn't where you thought it was? Well Miamians, you're certainly not alone. Miami is in fact America's cell phone loss and theft capital.

Lookout, a mobile security company, released some infographics on cell phone theft and loss. Fifty-two percent of Miamians have lost or had their phone stolen. New York comes in second, with 49 percent of the population losing their phone.

The company also found that the worst place to lose your phone is at the swimming pool. Sure, you might have it returned to you, but it might also be drenched in water and unlikely to work again. Other than that, the worst place to lose your phone is on public transportation. If you drop it on the bus, for example, there's only about a 2 percent chance you'll ever see it again.
