Monday: The best tribute bands are the ones that focus on the capturing the sound and not the look of their honorees. Go hear a free show of Roll the Stones at the Van Dyke Café for free renditions of "Start Me Up" without all that creepy Mick Jagger lip-smacking.
Tuesday: Eric Lopez-Zareno, AKA Teepee, who we awarded Best Solo Musician, is playing a free show at Kill Your Idol this Tuesday. Teepee's fuzz-rock will be joined by Haitian Hillbilly, Modernage, and Henri Horrible.
Wednesday: Known as much for his way with words as for his way with food, Anthony Bourdain discusses his new book Medium Raw: A Bloody Valentine to the World of Food and the People Who Cook on Wednesday night. It's free with a purchase of Medium Raw from any Books & Books store.
Thursday: If you're a fan of the Wynwood art scene, then you've
already sensed that the Summer lull has begun. To tie you over until a
much more active Fall, go see the survey exhibit "DCG Open" at the David
Castillo Gallery for a who's who in Miami's contemporary art.
Friday:
Good news, the Wolfsonian Museum is free every Friday night. And they don't just
leave you hanging to wander around aimlessly. A guided tour, starting at
6 p.m., will take you through their current exhibits: "Advertising for
Health," "Designing Healthy Spaces," "Art and Design in the Modern Age,"
and "+5: Recent Acquisitions."
