Miami Police officer Gary Sampson was entrusted with keeping justice and order on the streets of Miami, but allegedly made threats of violence and abuse at home. The 47-year-old officer was arrested today after allegedly threatening to kill his wife and smashing her phone when she attempted to call 911.
According to CBS Miami, on November 29 Sampson and his wife were arguing at home over fidelity issues and her complaints that he wasn't giving her enough attention. At one point Sampson went into his bedroom and returned holding a gun.
"Let's finish this now and let's finish this today," he allegedly said while holding the gun.
The victim said that Sampson had previously threatened to kill her over the phone, so she didn't take his threats lightly.
The wife tried to exit the apartment and call 911, but Sampson grabbed his wife's phone, smashed it and threw it in the trash. She made it to a downstairs neighbor's home and called police. Sampson was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a firearm and tampering with a witness.
