Marco Rubio Takes Second in Latest Florida Poll, But Donald Trump's Lead Surges

If a new Florida Atlantic University Business and Economics Polling Initiative is any indication, Donald Trump's grip on first place in the Republican primary isn't going away anytime soon, but the placement of the rest of the field continues to shift. The poll shows that Senator Marco Rubio is now in a solid second place amongst Floridians. Jeb Bush remains in a dismal fifth place even in his home state. 

Here's the breakdown:

• Carly Fiorina 2%
  

FAU last polled GOP voters back in September, and stood out back then for showing Rubio at second place in the state. Though, other recent polls do now show Rubio vying with Carson for second place. The polls finding that Jeb Bush has drifted to fifth in his own state is also perfectly in line with other polls. 
The poll also shows that Rubio has taken a commanding lead amongst Hispanic Republicans in the state with 34.0 percent. Carson and Trump are tied at 19.1 percent each, while Bush is now 4th with 12.8 percent. Cruz, despite being of Cuban decent himself, gets just 6.4 percent. 

FAU also checked in with Florida's Democrats — this time without including Joe Biden as a potential candidate. Bernie Sanders has made some headway in the state, but Hillary Clinton's lead certainly doesn't seem to be threatened in the least. 
Clinton does however seem to be in trouble with in the state's general election:
The pollsters also checked in on the Florida Senate race, but only by running head-to-head match ups between Democrats Reps. Patrick Murphy and Alan Grayson against Republicans Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez Cantera and Rep. Ron DeSantis. 

Many voters still remains wildly undecided, but the more moderate Murphy certainly has more of a leg up against his possible Republican competition then does more progressive Grayson.
