Ernesto Velazquez did not want to sit outside last night. In fact, the 29-year-old who uses a wheelchair was so insulted when a waitress at Finnegan's 2 tried to give him a table on Lincoln Road Mall that he pulled out a pistol and fired into the air.
Panicked managers called the cops, and Velazquez spent the night sitting in jail instead.
"I have survived bombings and shootings in Serbia," bar manager Bojan Milutinovic tells the Miami Herald. "I didn't want to die in a bar."
The trouble began around 10:30 last night when Velazquez and his brother came into Finnegan's 2, a sports bar on Lincoln Road at Michigan Avenue, and asked for a table.
A waitress suggested an outside table because it would be "lower and more comfortable," the Herald reports, which enraged Velazquez, who began shouting, "You don't want to serve me?"
That's when he grabbed the gun, which was tucked into a shirt inside the wheelchair, and fired.
Police arrested Velazquez, who faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm in public, disorderly conduct, and owning a firearm as a convicted felon.
