Traffic was snarled this morning in downtown after a man died in a car crash after his car was hit by another vehicle traveling the wrong way down the MacArthur Causeway. The accident happened at about 3:20 a.m. when 22-year-old Omar Bravo was driving westward on the eastbound lanes of the major causeway connecting downtown with Miami Beach.
Bravo's silver Nissan collided with a BMW driven by 27-year-old Matthew Montenegro. According to The Herald, both cars spun out of control and crashed into the median. The collision occurred near the Biscayne Boulevard exit.
Montenegro, the victim, died on the scene.
Bravo had to be cut out of his Nissan and was transported to the trauma center at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
The last Facebook status update belonging to a 22-year-old Omar Bravo of Miami read, "Gettin krunked mia louge boundd ! hollaa."
Both cars were so badly damaged that neither were removed from the scene until 9 a.m. which blocked several lanes on the MacArthur and caused police to redirect traffic.
