Perhaps you're worried about paying your rent, or you're kind of angry the Subway value meal deal went from $5 to $6, or you're busy looking up instructions on how to make thrifty DIY holiday gifts for your family right now.

Well, boy, do we have some good news for you: Florida's rich got richer last year, and now there's a whole more of them.

Singapore-based rich person information service Wealth-X reported that Florida's population of people whose net worth is more than $30 million grew by 500 individuals last year. That's an 11.7 percent increase in the total number of rich people, the fifth greatest gain of any state in the country.

Yes, Florida now has 4,710 people who are worth $30 million or more. The total number in the entire country now sits at 69,560. Or roughly about 0.00022 percent of the total national population. The rate in Florida is slightly higher at 0.00024 percent of the total population. So, we've got that going for us.

The Tampa Bay Times juxtaposes that with information from a recent report by the United Way indicating that about half of Florida's households are having a hard time paying for basic needs like food and shelter.
