The federal government decided to raise the minimum wage, and it supersedes Florida's old rate. So beginning today, the minimum wage in the Sunshine State rises four cents. That's a total of $7.25 an hour. 


If you work 40 hours a week for 50 weeks a year, that increase comes out to an even $80 a year. Which means you can afford the first two seasons of Big Love on DVD or a complete extra remote for your Wii. Every little cent helps though.
