Florida, we have an epidemic, and it's time that the suits up in Tallahassee did something about it. Riptide is urging Rick Scott and our state legislature to pass a comprehensive law mandating that all strip clubs include an attached child care center, because stories of people leaving their kids locked in cars at strip club parking lots are getting just a little bit too common.
The latest culprit is Jordan Caraway, 25, of DeLand. According to the Orlando Sentinel, an employee at Dixie's Gentlemen's Club spotted a 3-year-old boy in Caraway's car and called the Volusia County Sheriff's department at about 1 a.m. on Sunday. At that point Caraway had been drinking inside the club for about 30 minutes.
Caraway claimed that he had left another man to watch the child, but strip club employees said that both men had been inside the entire time.
Caraway was charged with child neglect and hauled off to jail.
Sadly this crime is not unique. Back in July, former NFL player Monty Ray Grow was charged in a similar case when he left a child in the parking lot of a strip club. A few days later, a Florida mother was arrested for leaving her kid alone in a motel while she danced at a strip club.
Come on, Florida, it's time we do something about it. Child care centers for every strip club! Plus, think of all the job opportunities it would create for retired strippers.
