Every once in a while, whatever deity-like being that controls crime in Florida (some religions refer to him as Saint Crackerious of Tallahassee) takes out three hats. One contains the names of every Florida town, the next holds the names of a fast-food restaurant, and the other has a series of comical crimes. This week's winners: West Palm Beach, McDonald's, and pulling out a gun to cut someone in the drive-thru line. This is just the latest in a long, long, long list of fast-food-related crimes in Florida.
James Lee Cruz, 58, pulled up to the Micky D's drive-thru and got into one of those odd drive-through confrontations the night of May 13. He was pulling up at exactly the same time as another car. The other vehicle had three women in it, but Cruz decided to eschew chivalry for quicker Chicken McNuggets. So he allegedly pulled out a gun and pointed it at the ladies, according to the Palm Beach Post.
The arrest reports also says that all three women believed Cruz was yelling something at him.
So, realizing their lives were more important than a value meal, they let Cruz ahead. Of course that meant they got a clear view of his license plate, and police were able to track him down.
He was arrested and is being held on $7,500 bond. He faces three counts of aggravated battery.
Let's hope he uses his time in jail to re-evaluate his life, because when you're a doughy middle-aged man pulling a gun to cut in line at McDonald's, you clearly have some things to think about.
