You don't need fancy statistics and indices to tell you the obvious: Traffic in Miami sucks. Alas, we still have fancy statistics and indices to make it official. According to IBM's Commuter Pain Index, Miami has the third worst traffic in the nation.

Additionally, the index shows these to be the worst local roads: I-95, the Palmetto Expressway, U.S. 1, Kendall Drive,

441, and I-595.

Miami also took top "honors" for drivers coming upon traffic so bad they've just turned around and gone home. Apparently 39 percent of us have done that in the past three years; 40 percent of us also report rude or aggressive driving as a problem, which is up from 35 percent last year. We're guessing the people who don't think that's a problem are the ones doing it. Sixty percent sounds just about right. We also have particularly bad "stop-start" traffic.

Only Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., have more traffic headaches than the Magic City. For the full study, you can read the PDF here.
