In the second quarter of the Dolphins' super-Dolphinsy 20-16 loss to the Detroit Lions, Brent Grimes made headlines on all the sports shows with his jaw-dropping, high-flying, acrobatic interception of a pass by Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Grimes had the not-so-fun task of sticking Detroit's freak-of-nature wide-out Calvin Johnson all game, and here Grimes got the best of him, soaring through the air like a flying squirrel to haul in the pass with one hand as he crashed into the end zone. The play was a game-changer, coming right after Ryan Tannehill threw a near pick-six touchdown that had the Lions threatening to blow the game wide open.

The play wasn't enough of a jolt for the Fins, though, and Johnson went on to get the better of Grimes by catching seven passes for 113 yards, including a 49 yard touchdown.

Still, that shit was nice.

Alas, the Dolphins are still the Dolphins, and when the defense handed the ball back to Tannehill with less than four minutes left and a three-point lead, the offense could do nothing but go three and out and give the ball right back. The Lions, predictably, took that opportunity, marched down the field, and scored a winning TD.

The loss leaves the Fins 5-4, cruising yet again toward their customary .500 finish.

The Dolphins play the Buffalo Bills at Sun Life Stadium Thursday at 8:25 p.m.
