The strange and winding relationship between the Dolphins and Jason Taylor is, like any good romantic thriller, full of betrayal, back stabbing, and reunions. Though now that Taylor has been cut from the New York Jets (should have known better, JT), it doesn't appear there's chance at one final reunion between JT and the Fins.
The 36-year-old defensive end played for the Dolphins for ten years and became a fan favorite and a frequent Pro Bowl selection. Taylor was traded to the Redskins in 2008, only to return to the Dolphins in 2009. Then last season he did the unthinkable! The uncontainable! He signed with the New York Jets.
He wants to play at least one or two more seasons, but could he be back here in Miami?
Taylor spoke to the media before playing in a celebrity golf game with Tim Tebow and Kenny G (no kidding) in Palm Beach and said he doesn't think that will happen: "I don't think there's a chance in the world they'll call... There's been no communication -- obviously, I play for another team. We didn't communicate very well when I played there...That ship may have sailed, and that's OK."
Taylor and Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland (not to mention former VP Bill Parcells) reportedly have never had a very cordial relationship.
Taylor said if he plays again, it will be for the Jets (excuse us, but errghhhh) and hopes to retire with the team. But he doesn't expect to make any move until a CBA agreement is reached.
