Joe McGinniss' The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin doesn't hit shelves until Tuesday, but review copies have gone out to various publications and more information about her alleged hook up with former Miami Heat star Glen Rice way back in the '80s are creeping out. Mother Jones' review includes two important points: 1) Rice does confirm the hookup in the book; 2) Palin freaked out and shouted "I fucked a black man!" afterward.

Here's the, uh, money shot:

By now, maybe you've heard about the most titillating portions. For instance, there's Sarah Palin hooking up with basketball star Glen Rice when Rice was a college star playing in a tournament in Alaska. Rice confirmed to McGinniss what he called a "respectful" encounter, noting that afterward "we talked a lot on the phone" and he had a "big crush" on Palin. But for McGinniss, there's more to this episode. In his book, this bizarre-in-retrospect intersection is proof of Palin's "fetish for black guys." That quote comes from an unnamed "friend." But--wait a moment--another unnamed friend says that following the Rice date, Palin freaked out: "Hysterical, crying, totally flipped out. The thing that people remember is her freak-out, how completely crazy she got: I fucked a black man! She was just horrified. She couldn't believe that she'd done that."
Though, the rest of the book is so thoroughly hard on Palin, even the die hard libs at MoJo seems to feel sorry for her.

"How much wrath does any biographic subject deserve?" writes David Corn. "At times, I wanted to reach for the hand sanitizer."

Regardless of McGinniss' apparent grudge against Palin, he does apparently get Rice on the record recounting the hookup. Which moves this rumor from wild speculation to probably true. Pass the hand sanitizer please.
