Bomb Threat Evacuates Sofitel Hotel Near Airport

An apparent bomb threat to the Sofitel Hotel has caused the evacuation of the luxury hotel near the airport. The threat was called in around 10 a.m., and guests began being evacuated sometime before 11:30 a.m.

Little information is available at the time, but all 150 guests have been evacuated from the hotel at 5800 Blue Lagoon Drive, just south of Miami International Airport and close to Burger King's corporate headquarters. Portion of Blue Lagoon Drive have also been blocked off as a precautionary measure.

According to The Herald
, both the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and Miami-Dade Police bomb squad are on the scene searching the hotel floor by floor. 


Update: After searching the entire hotel, no bombs were found and guests were allowed to return inside.
