David Beckham, to the delight of soccer fans in South Florida, is expected to confirm Wednesday that Major League Soccer will return to Miami, possibly as soon as 2016. Since the Fort Lauderdale Miami Fusion closed up shop in 2001 due to a wide assortment of issues, including a lack of fan support, people in the area have been clamoring for a mulligan, hoping a team playing "the beautiful game" would once again call Miami home.
Fans have pointed out the sport's growth in America since 2001, the name recognition and excitement that would come along with having David Beckham as an owner, and the city's overwhelming support of international friendlies recently held at Sun Life Stadium as reasons we deserve another crack at owning an MLS franchise.
Thankfully, it seems Beckham and MLS Commissioner Don Garber agree it's time for soccer to return to the 305. Dust off your vuvuzelas, Miami. Soccer is back. The news was met with jubilation on Twitter. Fans instantly began speculating on the team name, stadium location, kit colors, and even how sweet it would be if U.S. National Team and Boca Raton resident Jozy Altidore joined the squad.
#Miami is trending again because we finally get an MLS team and the #icc2014. Finally more futbol.

I guess if you're going to have an owner try to make MLS work in Miami, it might as well be David Beckham (not Ken Horowitz).
