Albert Facchiano is a 97-year-old Bal Harbor retiree. He's also on house arrest.

Why, you ask?

Apparently Facchiano -- whose aliases are "The Old Man" and "Chinky," is a gangster. Like from waaaay back: think Bugsy Siegel and Lucky Luciano.

A federal judge in Fort Lauderdale on Friday sentenced Big Al on racketeering, conspiracy and witness tampering charges. Each offense carries a possible sentence of 30 years but the kind prosecutors agreed to recommend house arrest because of his age and medical problems. He's deaf and has back problems, he recently told the court.

Maybe prosecutors were willing to cut him a break because the elderly gent has vowed to swear off his crimal career, which included being a "made member" of the Genovese family, the nation's largest and most powerful Mafia family for decades. Facchiano was a low-level figure, according to the FBI. He has an arrest record dating back to 1932 and served eight years of a 25-year sentence on federal racketeering charges after being arrested in 1979.

"I'll never get mixed up any more," Facchiano said Friday. "I'm just happy that it's over."
