Hurricanes fans may have been devastated when Alex Collins, a South Plantation High running back considered one of the best prospects in the nation, announced on Monday he'd instead be attending Arkansas next year, but no one was as disappointed as his mother.

She's so upset, apparently, that she's now disappeared with his letter of intent and refuses to officially sign him over to Arkansas.

Collins had verbally committed to Miami back in November, but Arkansas came a wooing in December. Collins' family had no idea, though, that he'd actually decided to become a Razorback until they heard him announce it on TV on Monday night. We'd be surprised, too.

They had an abysmal 4-8 record last year, and why would anyone want to spend their college years in Fayetteville, Arkansas? Not to mention it's an academically worse school, and its landlocked. College football players can't even have hooker yacht parties there even if they wanted to! Just a hellish school.

Though, when it came time for Collins to officially sign his letter of intent today, he didn't show up to the signing ceremony with his fellow college-bound teammates.

According to ESPN, "Alex Collins' mom confiscated the papers and took off and ran with them."

Collins' older brother Johnny tells the Miami Herald that his mother had hoped her son would sign with the Hurricanes.

"She's having anxiety," Johnny tells the paper. "I know she preferred him to go to UM. Alex had said he was going to the U, and then all of a sudden he changes his mind. We found out he was going to Arkansas on TV."

It's not clear if mama is just a big Hurricanes fan, or she wants him closer to home, but Johnny's comments point to the later.

"He could get home faster and it's more convenient if Mom wants to go to a game - instead of having to fly to Arkansas," he tells the Herald.

Basically, no one really has much of an idea what's going on right now, and at this moment, Collins still has not officially committed to any school.
