He touched the lives of countless hip-hop fans, and was named The 86th Greatest Artist of All Time by Rolling Stone. But aside from his burgeoning acting career and social activism, he was a symbol of overcoming hardships for many, and his introspective songs about growing up in ghettos and racism really struck a chord and changed lives.
Despite his well-known conflicts with other rappers and the East Coast/West Coast hip-hop rivalry, Shakur managed to make a name for himself and went on to be a top-selling artist. He's influenced practically every rapper who grew up in the 90's, and About.com even named him as "the most influential rapper ever."
