Summer Fest was an all-out megawatt concert scheduled for this Saturday at American Airlines Arena. The line-up was to feature some of the biggest names in pop, hip-hop, and R&B: Akon, Ne-Yo, Keri Hilson, and T-Pain, as well as locals like Flo Rida, Brisco, Black Dada, Wynter, and Casely.
The show was officially postponed yesterday due to "weather conditions" -- tropical storms/depressions/whatever Ana and Bill, who already looked, yesterday, on their way to breaking up. It's damn expensive to pull the plug on a big event like that, with all the artist and venue guarantees and deposits, so it seems like a hasty move to have called it off so far in advance. This is South Florida, promoters! We all know these almost-hurricanes don't play out until the last minute.
Poor ticket sales don't seem too likely as the real reason, though, as promoters were very clear in the press release that the show has not been canceled. It is definitely supposed to be rescheduled, and tickets already bought will be honored at the new date. Stay tuned to Crossfade for more details.
