Señor Stereo is what you get when you put together a Kendall boy and two Midwesterners. Individually, Danny Daze, Gigamesh, and Joe Maz have accomplished a lot, but it only gets better when they churn out disco-house tracks together. "We all have the same style, and we feed each other ideas," Daze explains. "We have a lot of the same influences." And that musical harmony led local producer and turntablist Craze to ask Señor Stereo to release its debut, Unintentional EP, on Fool's Gold imprint Slow Roast Records. "The first song I sent him was 'Unintentional,' and at first, he thought it was a little weird. But then he called me back saying, 'We want to release this.'" The release is a quasi-Miami take on the revitalized disco genre with a heavy helping of house, and it has quickly become a DJ fave thanks to tracks such as "Hot Damn!" This Saturday, Daze, Gigamesh, and Maz will play Grand Central's Slow Roast Showcase. If you can believe it, the gig will be only Señor Stereo's second live show.
