Time once again for Sander Kleinenberg to visit one of the burgs that helped put him on the map — or is it the other way around? Like a superelaborate GPS system, Sander Kleinenberg's bloopy progressive-house megahit "This Is Miami" mysteriously becomes "This Is Ibiza" if you're on a certain Mediterranean island. Either way it's worded, though, the track is whipped out on a regular basis by A-list DJs when the crowd looks like it could use a good jolt.
Same goes for Kleinenberg's 2000 single "My Lexicon," another progressive house staple. The Dutch DJ's main concern at the moment is his newest mix compilation for Ultra Records, This Is Sander Kleinenberg, which hit store shelves this past September 11. There have been haters, but he's like, bring it. "I've had feedback that was either very positive or very negative — no middle ground" he says. "But I love that kind of response; it means something is provoking the listeners." Besides working on his album, he spent his summer in Ibiza, spinning at Pacha on Fridays. "Other than that, I traveled around Europe and performed at some big UK festivals — Creamfields, SW4, Glade, and Global Gathering," he says.
Kleinenberg also says he is always seeking new music for his own record label, Little Mountain Recordings. "Rene Amesz, Patchpark, and a few other kids are working on new singles for Little Mountain. I'm also currently very busy preparing and working on a new video/audio project to be released in 2008."
