Honeyboy Edwards destroyed a sold out house at Miami Beach's Colony Theatre last Saturday night with a set so full of Delta you could feel it in your bones. The 94-year-old Edwards, who just won 2010's Life Time Achievement Award at the Grammys, played with backing by Steve Arvey on second guitar, and Michael Frank on harmonica.
After the show, Honeyboy sat a table in the lobby, signed autographs, and took photos with fans, and girls on his lap, as Michael Frank and Steve Arvey sold merch. When the crowd thinned out, we said, "Dude, that was fuckin' awesome." Honeyboy told us "I been doin this a long time. Some nights it's good, some nights it's not. Sometimes it sound good, sometimes it don't. The music....It's a feeling....it's a feeling."
Catch a feeling March 20. when Tigertail Productions brings down one of the world's best fingerpicking acoustic guitarists, Leo Kottke.
