After Ultra Music Festival weekend (and the preceding, uh, seven days of Winter Music Conference and Miami Music Week), we envision 90 percent of Crossfade's readership to be curled under their bedsheets in the fetal position.
Every now and then you get up to sip some kombucha, pack a bowl, suck on a b-12 lozenge, or maybe hold your head in shame.
Technically speaking, you're fried. And so the last thing you want to be thinking about is partying, never mind afterpartying.
But get real ... You know there will be a day when you'll be able to love (alcohol and drugs) again. And maybe the key to a true recovery from 168 continuous hours of beat-freaking is a little hip-hop?
Big news from Bardot: The swanky Midtown speakeasy will be hosting the official afterparty for The Roots concert at Adrienne Arsht Center. And none other than Questlove will be manning the decks alongside NYC's Jacques Renault.
The Roots drummer is known for highly eclectic DJ sets that draw from a very broad definition of "The Classics" -- like his Christmas party on South Beach in December -- while Renault is known best for deep disco cuts and dance-y post-punk.
If that doesn't sound like the antidote to spending a week awake with glowsticks shoved in every orifice (or getting caught in a Skrillex mosh), we don't know what does.
The Roots' Official Afterparty with Questlove and Jacques Renault. Featuring a live performance by The Hongs. Saturday, March 31. Bardot, 3456 N. Miami Ave., Miami. Tickets cost $15 to $20 plus fees via eventbrite.com. Call 305-576-5570 or visit bardotmiami.com.
