After last night's Grammy Awards, everyone is talking about Daft Punk's appearance (and a most awkward display of white people dancing), not to mention Beyoncé's oh-so-very-hot performance, and Queen Latifah marrying everyone while Macklemore provided the music.
But before all of that went down, while everyone was coming down the red carpet, Cedric Gervais took home a Grammy. The LIV and Story resident DJ beat out other acts like Andy Caldwell, Photek, and Alesso in the category of "Best Remixed Recording (Non-Classical)" for his reworking of Lana Del Rey's "Summertime Sadness."

We here at Crossfade picked the cut as one of our favorite 2013 local releases for good reason.
Del Rey released the single in 2012 without much fanfare. It wasn't until Gervais gave the track a boost into club-anthem territory that it took off and charted at number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song, original a melancholy ode to the summer fling, instantly became the hit of the summer. It was inescapable, dominating everywhere, from the nightclubs to radio airwaves.

Gervais, of course, isn't new to the music industry. He's been doing what he does for a very long time and has probably played at every major Miami nightclub. In December, he returned to his old stomping grounds, Space, to play at the venue that arguably made him into a household name.
So what's Gervais doing next? According to reports today, the Grammy winner will be giving Miley Cyrus' latest single, "Adore You," the remix treatment. That cut has failed to match the popularity of her previous releases "Wrecking Ball" and "We Can't Stop," so perhaps Miley is hoping he can do for her track what he did for Del Rey.
Congrats, Gervais!
