Here are three more nuggets of awesomeness from New Times' Best Endangered Live Music Venue, the Fillmore Miami Beach. Nearly every week brings a new announcement of a major act there, and one more chip away at Broward's dominance of the touring-band market for South Florida. We hope things keep going this well, because, hey, it's greener for us to stay within the 305 borders.

* We announced a while back that one member of the holy pantheon of critic- and buyer-approved Brooklyn Art Rock, Yeasayer, would hit the Fillmore on October 5. That's now been slightly upstaged: Later that month, on October 26, the vaunted Wesleyan-by-way-of-Brooklyn psychedelic trio MGMT makes its South Florida live debut.

(Of course, that's also the same month Vampire Weekend does the Fillmore, on October 15, but they're Manhattan-based and thus ruin the L-/JMZ-line theme we're going for here.)  No word on the opening act, yet, but tickets cost $32 in advance, $35 day of show (as if there will be any available then) and go on sale this Friday, July 16 at 10 a.m. Call 800-745-3000, visit livenation.com, or go to the Fillmore box office to possibly shave off a couple bucks in fees.

* Also on deck at the Fillmore Miami Beach: Serj Tankian, infamous frontman for System of a Down, one of the few bands to make active-rock radio charts and still enjoy semi-underground and critical respect. Chalk it up to Tankian's sometimes almost-operatic vocal chops, proggy musical flourishes, and political activism.

He performs solo on Saturday, October 9, and tickets cost $38.50 and $45 in advance. They also go on sale this Friday, July 16 at 10 a.m. so again call 800-745-3000, visit livenation.com, or go to the Fillmore box office.

* Finally, while comedy is outside Crossfade's usual scope, we love Louis C.K. so we'll mention, too, that the comedian will perform at the Fillmore on Friday, December 10. And if you haven't yet caught his new slightly tragicomic series, Louie, catch up on episodes over at Hulu

Tickets are $35 and go on sale, you guessed it, at 10 a.m. this Friday.
