DJ-producer Eric Estornel is a veritable chameleon of electronic dance music. In a career spanning almost two decades, he's shifted musical styles as often as he has monikers.
His extensive discography boasts atmospheric techno as Maetrik, twisted electro as Mariel Ito, and moody deep house as Maceo Plex, all with a relentless innovative edge.
Born in Texas, Estornel made a name for himself in the '90s American EDM scene. But he has since migrated to Valencia, Spain, positioning himself at the center of European action.
This last year may have been his busiest yet, with a series of acclaimed releases as Maetrik and Maceo Plex on top international labels like Cocoon and Audiomatique.
On Crosstown Rebels, meanwhile, he recently put out the widely acclaimed soulful house number "Vibe Your Love," an early candidate for summer anthem of 2011. The label will also be putting out a full-length Maceo Plex artist album at the end of this month, which makes his upcoming January 21 performance at the Electric Pickle a perfect chance to preview new material from this prolific talent.
Maceo Plex. Friday, January 21. Electric Pickle, 2826 N. Miami Ave., Miami. The party starts at 10 p.m. Call 305-456-5613 or visit electricpicklemiami.com.
