Is it me, or has the social pace kicked into Ludicrous Speed? This shit is ridonk. WMC landed in what felt like a blink (perhaps because we're accustomed to expecting it two weeks away), and Ultra's just around the corner. Meanwhile, let's not forget Spring Bpreak is officially in full swing, as anybody who's visited SoBe this side of February can attest. So what are you doing this weekend?? Somewhere in between all this chaos, LoKee Entertainment is introducing the first annual LoKee Music Fest, at Transit Lounge this Sunday.
LoKee founder Tony Sattel, a grad from The U, envisioned this little shiding as the perfect way to celebrate spring break, which if you're a 'Cane, takes place the coming week.
"I am honored to be involved in the very first LoKee Music Festival here in Miami," says singer-songwriter Phil Jacobson, who's also a UM grad. "I am definitely looking forward to sharing my music with some outstanding groups and their fans."
The outstanding groups are indeed just that--perhaps a hodgepodge most anywhere else, but a perfect sampling of some of the city's best musicians here in Miami. The lineup features everything from reggae to rock, Latin to funk, the aforementioned singer-songwriter variety, electronica and more.
"There's some really good music happening down here in South Florida," Jacobson goes on to say, "and having a festival like this gives people a chance to catch a handful of the local Miami scene all in one night. It's going to be a musical melting pot with all the different styles being represented."
On the diverse bill, which fans can partake of absolutely free, by the way, are reggae badasses Jahfe, Latin fusioneers Elastic Bond, piano rock troubadour Jacob Jeffries and his band, SOUNDUO, Big Tasty and Beat Machines, which features JJ Freire, of first Bacilos and then Suenalo fame, Tony "Smurphio" Laurencio of AfroBeta and a special unnamed guest.
LoKee Music Festival take place at Transit Lounge (729 SW 1 Ave) on Sunday, March 13. No cover.
