Industry insiders or civilians who just happen to be fans of Latin music may find themselves wanting for panels and performances specifically addressing their interests during Winter Music Conference. But there is an event for them. Though it is not exactly a WMC sanctioned event, it has all the right working parts and is located just a stone's throw from a great many of them.
The Latin Digital Conference and SESAC Latina will be holding The Latin Digital Music Summit today at the Gibson Showroom in the Design District from 2 - 8pm. Registration is free but limited and opens at 2pm with a panel on the future of Latin music in the digital age beginning at 3pm, and workshop presentations take place from 5 - 5:30pm.
At 5:30pm there's a networking reception with live music featuring an offering of Latin pop acts including Manuela Mejia and Chris Syler and, for some reason I don't quite understand, English language power pop-rockers Ex-Norwegian. I won't knock it though, the young group of locals kick ass and are sure to add to the show.
The Latin Digital Music Summit takes place at the Gibson Showroom (180 NE 39th St., Ste. 200; Miami, FL 33137) from 2 - 8pm today. Registration is free.
