If you're in a band, you are probably broke.
It sucks. But it's true. And there are a limited number of ways for a struggling rock 'n' roller to realistically collect some cash. You could (A) quit the band and get a real job; (B) ask Mom for the ten years of back allowance she owes you; or (C) sell your blood and hair to shady third-party "health care" outfits.
But here's another less depressing option: The Langerado Festival's newly announced Last Band Standing contest on PureVolume.com.
Here's the deal, according to the fest's official press release:
Bands will have a chance to compete for the final slot at the festival alongside confirmed acts Death Cab for Cutie, Trey Anastasio Band, Ben Harper, Ween, and Thievery Corporation, as well as a prize package including $1,0000 in cash and $5,000 in promotional support from BuzzMedia sites.
Bands have until August 22 to submit their band and create their profile at PureVolume.com/pages/langerado ... Three bands will be chosen to move on to perform at the live finale in Miami the week of October 3rd. The winning band will be chosen by a panel of industry judges, and given a spot on stage at the big show.
So ... Crossfade's advice: Don't stop rocking. Fuck work. Love your mom. And keep your blood and hair. Go get money (and fame?) with Langerado and PureVolume.com.
