The middle of the show was stuffed with beat heavy dance music that the crowd was, if not completely enthusiastic about, definitely enjoying. Edgar's sound isn't any one thing; it's dynamic, and thankfully not boring.
And the musician is no stranger to Miami. He got his start on local labels Merck and Isophlux Records and he has been brought down in the past by Castillo and von Schirach, among others.
This show was much better attended than other recent events at Eve are rumored to have been. The location was formerly known as White Room, once home to such nights as Poplife. It has since been modified to an open airy space with plenty of room to roam and move. But it seems like no one even knows it's open, so it's always sort of empty.
So, for all of the quality music Edgar brought, there just weren't enough bodies on the floor. Sure, people were dancing. But maybe the problem was that this party took place the night before a holiday. Maybe Miami partied too hard this weekend. Or maybe it was trumped by the revival of the classic and well-loved gothic night The Church one block away at Vagabond.
Whatever the case, though, you should have come out.
